What is Pennies & Pens?

Pennies & Pens is a vegan, organic and sustainable lifestyle brand created to inspire and empower multicultural consumers to ink the life they’ve always wanted.

Our brand includes ready to wear, loungewear, sleepwear, lingerie, wedding attire, handbags, shoes and jewelry.

What does Pennies & Pens include?

Currently, Pennies & Pens includes a collection of organic cotton T-Shirts. In the future, we will be expanding to include additional products so stay tuned. 

We inked a collection of organic cotton T-Shirts for three reasons: one, we needed something comfortable to wear while in quarantine; two, a T-Shirt is a classic wardrobe staple that looks good on all body types; and three, we wanted to test the market before launching a full collection.

What is Pennies & Pens made of?

Pennies & Pens T-Shirts are made of 100% Organic cotton, certified by GOTS (Global Textile Standard). Organic Cotton is cotton that is produced and certified to organic agricultural standards.

Organic Cotton farming does not allow the use of toxic chemicals or GMOs (genetically modified organisms) so it’s better for the planet and your body.

Why is Organic Cotton dope?

Organic cotton softens naturally over time with each wear and wash. Organic cotton is very exclusive as only 1% of the world's cotton is organic.

Organic cotton is the softest, most absorbent fiber available. This is why Pennies & Pens T-Shirts are so comfortable!

Why is Pennies & Pens Unique + Original?

Pennies & Pens T-Shirts feature entertaining and empowering messages inspired by multiculturalism, spirituality, and pop culture.

Starting soon, Pennies & Pens T-Shirts will be printed with the world’s most eco-friendly, GOTS certified organic, vegan and water-based ink. Organic water-based inks are more comfortable to wear and better for the environment. 

We are committed to creating sustainable fashion because we don’t want to cause additional harm to the environment. Also, since our designer is Vegan, it would be weird if we created pieces that weren’t vegan. We wanted our products to be a reflection of who we are and what we like. 

Pennies & Pens: Our Herstory 

We originally created Pennies & Pens in 2010 when we launched our multicultural lifestyle magazine, de la Pen...All Pen Everything. We named our audience Pennies & Pens because we wanted to give them a name that was original as well as “on brand”. 

Furthermore, we wanted a name that would represent women and men equally. We believe in the economic, social and political equality of the sexes therefore, we developed a brand that allows for equality amongst all genders. In essence, Pennies is for the ladies and Pens is for the guys. 

We officially launched Pennies & Pens in November 2020. Since launching our brand, we’ve sold Pennies & Pens T-Shirts to customers in Texas, Louisiana, Georgia, Delaware, Tennessee, Ohio and more. 

We have participated in local Pop Up Shops in Dallas including Soul Saturday, For the Culture and the HBCU + Greek Day Party at Sandaga 813. Now in 2022, we are preparing to showcase the Pennies & Pens collection at Fashion Week. Stay tuned for updates!
